Your information

Privacy Policy

Saunders Physiotherapy is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains, in plain English, what information we collect, why we collect it, how we look after it, and the choices you have.

Who we are and what this policy covers

Saunders Physiotherapy provides physiotherapy services from Level 3, 12 Gilles Street, Adelaide SA 5000 and from the Arruda Clinic in Edwardstown. As a health service provider we are bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), which set particularly high standards for handling health information.

This policy covers the personal information we collect through our clinics, by phone and email, and through this website. This page is provided for general information about our practices and is not legal advice.

What we collect

To provide safe, effective care we may collect: your name, contact details and date of birth; health information such as your medical history, current condition, treatment notes and reports from other providers; Medicare, DVA, NDIS or private health fund details used for billing and claims; and appointment and payment history.

Through this website, we collect the information you choose to submit via our contact form — typically your name, contact details and your message.

This website uses Google Analytics to measure how visitors use it, such as the pages viewed and how you arrived. That data is aggregated and does not identify you. The contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to block spam; it checks your browser in the background and does not collect your personal information.

How we collect it

Wherever practical we collect information directly from you — in person, over the phone, by email or through our website contact form. With your consent, we may also receive information from your GP, specialist, insurer or another treating practitioner.

Online bookings are handled by HotDoc, a third-party booking platform. When you book through HotDoc, the information you provide is collected and handled by HotDoc under its own privacy policy, and shared with us so we can manage your appointment. We encourage you to review HotDoc's privacy policy on its website.

Why we collect it

We collect and use your information to: assess, treat and manage your condition; manage appointments, reminders, billing and health fund or Medicare claims; communicate with you and, with your consent, with other people involved in your care; and meet our legal and professional obligations as registered health practitioners.

We do not use or disclose your health information for any other purpose without your consent, unless the law requires or permits it.

Storage and security

Your records are held in secure practice management systems with access limited to the members of our team who need it to care for you or administer the practice. We take reasonable steps to protect all personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.

Messages submitted through the contact form on this website are retained for a maximum of 12 months and then deleted, unless the correspondence has become part of your clinical record.

Who we share it with

We share information only as needed to deliver and administer your care. That may include: HotDoc, which processes online bookings on our behalf; payment and claiming providers such as HICAPS, your private health fund, Medicare or the NDIS when you claim for a service; and, with your consent, your GP, specialist or other treating practitioners.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not disclose it to overseas recipients except where a service provider we use stores data securely on our behalf.

Access and correction

You are welcome to request access to the personal information we hold about you, and to ask us to correct anything that is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete. Contact us using the details below and we will respond within a reasonable time. In limited circumstances the law allows us to refuse access; if that applies, we will explain why in writing.

Questions and complaints

If you have a question or concern about how we have handled your information, please contact us first — we take privacy seriously and will do our best to resolve the matter promptly.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or by calling 1300 363 992.
